The Edo Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has expressed readiness to partner with the Austrian Government in promoting investment in the state’s solid mineral sector and the development of local technical capacity in the sector.

The governor said this during a courtesy visit by the Austrian Commercial Counsellor to Nigeria, Mr Guido Stock, at Government House, Benin City, Edo State capital.

Obaseki noted that Edo State is blessed with natural endowments and natural resources, such as limestone and coal, adding that the state boasts of rich aquatic resources in West Africa.

The governor also stressed the government’s keen interest in technical education, noting that building local capacity in specialist areas would contribute to developing the state’s economy.

Noting that the state is willing to collaborate with Austria in the areas of waste recycling, reforestation and technical education, he said, “The State has an Enterprise Park which Austrian investors willing to do business in Nigeria can seamlessly locate in.

On his part, Mr Stock said the Austrian Government intends to promote a commercial and economic relationship with the Edo State government, especially in areas where it has a competitive advantage such as technology, machinery building and the construction industry.

He also affirmed that Austria is well known for her technical education, which it is willing to help develop in the state.
